Juvenile Diabetes Family Support System
On November 3rd, Michaels Miracles held its first Juvenile Diabetes Support group meeting at the Somerset Valley YMCA in Somerville, NJ. The Somerset Valley YMCA provided activities for the children while the adult family members shared their experiences as well as gained some additional knowledge about living with juevenile diabetes. It was a great night for meeting some great families. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experiences with the group. Special thanks to our good friend Colleen Clark-Chuo, a Certified Diabetes Nurse Educator for all her help and guidance. We also thank Koren Family Dental for providing the refreshments.

A World Record
Today, we were notified by Guinness World Records™ that Michael's blood sugar level is indeed a world record. The actual certificate reads:
"Michael Patrick Buonocore (USA) (b. 19 May 2001), survived a blood sugar level of 147.6 mmol/L (2656 mg/dl) when admitted to the Pocono Emergency Room in East Strousburg, Pennsylvania, USA on 23 March 2008. The normal blood sugar range is between 4.4 6.6 mmol/L (80-120 mg/dl)." This is a bitter-sweet day. It is very exciting that Michael has a world record recognized by Guinness World Records™ but it also reminds me of how close we were to losing our son. It's these feelings that drive Michael's Miracles to keep moving forward, to raise more awareness and to help families who follow in our footsteps. The next record I would like to see Michael break is to be the survivor of the highest blood sugar level in the world who was finally cured. Thank you for being so strong, Michael. You're my inspiration...you're my hero. |

Michael's Miracles in Motion is a Go!
We had beautiful weather, good food and a great time at our Bike-A-Thon held at Duke Island Park on Saturday, May 28. Many families participated in our ride, visited our vendors, played games and even took part in a "Zumba" class! We could not have pulled this event off without the help of all our volunteers...you guys (and gals) rock! Special thanks to all our vendors and those who performed for us (Zumba and dancing). Extra special thanks to Open Road Mercedes Benz of Bridgewater, our event sponsor! And exta-extra special thanks to all those who showed up and participated. Thanks for making our event a successful one and helping us help families deal with the daily struggles of diabetes.
Third Annual Golf Event
Once again we had beautiful weather for our Third Annual Michael's Miracles Golf to Cure Diabetes Charity Event which was held on May 9th at Mattawang Golf Club in Belle Mead, NJ. Thanks to all those who donated a gift to our raffle. Extra thanks to our wonderful volunteers, sponsors and golfers who made the day a huge success. Special thanks to Ray Catena Infiniti of Bridgewater...too bad nobody won the QX56...what a beautiful vehicle. We had a lot of fun, a lot of laughs, some good food and we are one step close to a cure! Michael's Miracles thanks you all!

Busy Month of May
This year has been another busy year for Michael's Miracles. We recently became a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We are extremely proud of this accomplishment. This will allow us to continue to raise awareness in our communities and supply help for families so they can manage and endure a life with type 1 diabetes.
We have two great events scheduled for the month of May. On May 9th, we will hold our Third Annual Michael's Miracles Golf to Cure Diabetes Charity Event at Mattawang Golf Club in Belle Mead, NJ. Join us for a great day of golf, good food and lots of great prizes to be won in our auction. Also, all golfers have a chance to win a 2011 Infiniti QX56 courtesy of Ray Catena Infiniti of Bridgewater. All you have to do is get a hole in one (we'll pick the hole, you provide the perfect shot)! Visit our golf page for more information.
And on May 28th we will host, partnering with The Tour of Somerville and Middle Earth, the Michael's Miracles in Motion Bike Ride and Family Activity Day at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, NJ. Join us for a day of fun and many activities for everyone. Ride around the park and raise money for a great cause. Visit our Family Day webpage for more information.

2011 - Happy New Year!
With the great support of family, friends and the surrounding communities Michael's Miracles continues to grow. Almost three years into our battle and Michael is doing quite well. He continues to be our source of strength and inspiration. And as we enter a new year our goals remain the same: to continue to raise awareness and funds for juvenile diabetes.
2010 was a busy year for Michael's Miracles and we aren't showing any signs of slowing down. We are already planning our fundraising events for the year and, as always we could not succeed without your support. A family bike ride and activity day as well as our third annual golf outing are currently in the works. Check back often for more information on these and other events for this year. We thank you for your continued support and hope to see you all at our fundraising events.
